What is Chakra Energy?

Have you ever wondered what chakra energy is? You may have heard people speaking about balancing or aligning their chakras but aren't certain exactly what they are talking about. If so, you've come to the right place.  Though chakras cannot be scientifically proven, there are many people worldwide who have focused on these energy centers within the human body with wonderful benefits. Let's begin by defining what chakras are.


Chakra energy refers to the idea that there are seven energy centers located in the body, each of which corresponds to specific physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of a person's being. Chakras originated in Hinduism and were first mentioned in the ancient Hindu texts: The Vedas.

These energy centers are said to be located along the spine, starting from the base and moving up to the crown of the head. 

The seven chakras are as follow:

Root Chakra (Muladhara) - located at the base of the spine, associated with feelings of safety, security, and grounding.


Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) - located just below the navel, associated with creativity, sexuality, and pleasure.


Solar Plexus Chakra (Manipura) - located in the upper abdomen, associated with personal power, confidence, and self-esteem.


Heart Chakra (Anahata) - located in the center of the chest, associated with love, compassion, and connection.


Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) - located at the throat, associated with communication, self-expression, and authenticity.


Third Eye Chakra (Ajna) - located between
the eyebrows, associated with intuition, wisdom, and spiritual insight.


Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) - located at the top of the head, associated with spiritual connection, enlightenment, and consciousness.




The idea is that when these chakras are balanced and flowing freely, a person experiences optimal physical, emotional, and spiritual health. Different techniques, such as meditation, yoga, and energy work, are often used to balance and activate these chakras.
